Yes we tried that method! I think we’ve tried just about everything in the books. The one thing you could try that I did not is starting them early! Practice with a fake turf mat at home and teach them a term to go on command. Keep at it and you may have success! Weekend trips will be a good warm up for them but you have to stay consistent on your training. Let us know how it goes and don’t be afraid to reach out if you have more questions 🙂

Did you ever try taking a sample of his urine and rubbing it on a mat?
We are very new to sailing, have not cruised yet, but have two dogs who go everywhere with us. Our boat is small, 33 feet, and we both still work, so weekends will our game, maybe next summer.
