This is the real cruising life aboard Sailing Sweet Ruca. Even though our transatlantic voyage is on hold we don’t stop having fun and continue the adventure in a beautiful new country. After being offshore, sailing in the blue water on a fast 2 day reach from the USVI to Grenada, we arrive and spend almost a fortnight in quarantine.

In this satisfying video, we do some sailing, but you get to see a lot of us making funny videos while stuck on the boat for over a week at anchor. You know what’s awesome about being at anchor in for that long?

There is no CNN, no MSNBC, no Fox News, no parties, no drama. It’s just the two of us and the asmr sounds of the ocean and birds, Kate playing beautiful music as she is learning the guitar, and enjoying sunsets and nature.

We have a smooth sail and show the checking in the process via MAYAG into Grenada. It was overall a good and motivational experience! (A note, now you need to use SailClear).

This time we are on the reefs off of Grande Anse Beach. This area is right in front of the major resort area on the south west side of the island. It is fairly protected from waves, but there is considerable current. This is two dives meshed into one. Both are in the depth range of 35-50 feet.

We had a camera problem on the first dive, so we came up with some poor and almost unusable footage. The second dive turned out great, so we mostly used this footage, but spliced in a few from dive one. What happened?

Well, the go-pro waterproof cover was taken off on the boat for a bit to grab some audio and we think a little water got in and caused condensation on the lens, making the video foggy. There is lots of amazing coral, sponges, ocean, and marine life in these videos.

We see spiny Caribbean lobster, flutter fish, butterfly fish, file fish, creole wrasse, cow fish, and lizard fish.

Scuba Diving: Shark Reef Drift Dive in Grenada – Sailing Sweet Ruca

Shark Reef is off the south side of Grenada. The fast-moving Atlantic ocean current rips through here, but also provides the food for this amazing reef ecosystem. This is some of the best coral and reef life we have seen so far in the Caribbean! We dropped in with ScubaTech Grenada, starting off in Prickly Bay. They are fantastic local guides. The Sailing Sweet Ruca crew were joined by the crew from SV Dragonfly. We had great visibility on a bright sunny day. We saw lots of underwater life including reef fish, rays, sharks, spiny lobsters, and crabs. What a day.
